December Photo Hunt

This is my first time joining the Photo Hunt! I've followed for some time now but haven't gotten the chance to enter. This month I was determined. Though some of my photos aren't the greatest, I'm very proud of most of them and I hope you enjoy!

Photo #1~ Holiday Lights
Tree lights and the light of candles are both special parts of the holiday for our family.

Photo #2~ Holiday Spirit
Nothing gets you in the spirit like taking a child to see all of the lights at the zoo. The excitement is contagious!Photo #3~ A Holiday Treat
Living in Colorado is great EXCEPT for I can't get Yuengling beer here! Luckily when I go back to the East coast for Christmas my parents always have a case waiting for me :)

Photo #4~ An Ornament
My mom's tree has been gold for as long as I can remember. I love that I can see my reflection in this tiny ball!
Photo #5~ A gift wrapped package
This is more than one package, but my mom wraps so beautifully and takes so much pride in her wrappings!

Photo #6~ A Window Display
I love snowflakes and this window was just beautiful! I put some special effects into the photo for a little more interest!

Photo #7~ A Winter/Holiday Icon
Snowflakes definately say winter, and homemade cookies are Holiday... I think this photo is perfect for this catagory!
Photo #8~ A Tree
Simple and beautiful

Photo #9~ A Tradition
My best friend and I only get to see each other once a year. It's our tradition to spend Christmas Eve together.

Photo #10~ Something that says Noel
This was such a cute shirt that I had to buy it for my niece!

Photo #11~ Something Precious
These deer showed up in our back yard one morning and just grazed on sticks and leaves.
Photo #12~ Something Peaceful
Our kitty, Tink, sound asleep
Photo #13~ Something Hot
It doesn't get much hotter than a fire to warm your toes and your nose!

Photo #14~ Something Cold
Celebrating another wonderful year with a bottle of our favorite champagne.

Photo #15~ Something Red

Celebrating giving to others who are less fortunate in this wonderful season of giving.

Photo #16~ Something Green
Our house gnome hiding behind a tree that is just his size!

Photo #17~ Motion Blur
Sneaking a bite of cookie dough! Caught!

Photo #18~ Black & White (With Selective Color)
I love the striking gold of this ornament.
Photo #19~ Photo Using Infrared Technique
This one was tough for me to figure out, but I think it was certainly worth it! The effect is wonderful!

Photo #20~ A Macro Shot
My friend had a lime green tree with multi-colored lights, I loved everything about how different it was from the clean traditional tree of my parent's house.

I hope you all enjoyed my photo hunt!! I hope to participate in more in the months to come!! Happy new year everyone!!

Sunflare~ I *heart* faces

This week is all about capturing sun flare. Of course the name of the website being "I *heart* Faces" you're supposed to have a face in the photo. I just couldn't not post this picture of my favorite sun flare I've captured. The face in it is, as you can see, the face of the virgin Mary in statue form... is that stretching it too far? Oh well, I like it!

To see more, check out the website for those who can actually follow the rules!

I *Heart* Faces~ Halloween!

I LOVE Halloween... Pretty much more than any other holiday. On no other day do I get to dress up as anything I want and get away with it?
Well, This photo isn't of me, it's of my nephew about to get his mask on. He is so adorably excited to get out to trick or treat that he couldn't stop smiling :)
Children are wonderful little beings.
So, without further ado... here is my entry for this week's I *Heart* Faces Contest!

Fix It Friday

Here is my entry for this week's Fix It Friday from I *heart* Faces.

This little boy was expressing so much wonder that I couldn't resist putting a flare in his hands and adding a sweet quote.

I came, I saw, I snapped

Here's my first entry in my chronicles of being a Photog Wannabe. Does anyone else out there use the word "photog" in reference to photographers besides me? I picked that up on the cruise ship that I used to work for... that's what we called those people who stalk the passengers and make them take pictures in front of buoys and stuff and then try and sell the prints at ridiculous prices.

I digress...
I love photography. I love taking pictures. I'm poor. OK, maybe not "poor" by some people's standards, but I certainly can't afford a nice camera. I use a point and shoot Olympus that I got about 3 years ago. That being said, in that time I've learned to finesse every ounce of greatness from that little guy. Sometimes I have to coax the greatness out using words of encouragement or a quick tap on back, but all in all, it hasn't failed me yet.

So this is my little world of me thinking I'm a good photog (and yes, I will be using the word "photog" almost exclusively here in place of photographer). I'm a Photog Wannabe... and I'm ok with that.
